The sun was mercilessly hot, and the water in the coastal lagoon seemed like an ideal escape from the heat.
Alina, a diving enthusiast, had been enjoying the sea for several days, exploring underwater grottoes and reefs. This time she decided to dive a little further, hoping to see something unusual.
At a depth of several meters, her gaze was drawn to a small octopus hiding among the seaweed. It was slightly larger than her palm, but was clearly not afraid of the approach.
On the contrary, the octopus extended its tentacles with interest and, as if having thought over its decision, swam straight to Alina. The girl froze, amazed by such courage.
When she surfaced, the octopus did not retreat. It landed softly on her stomach, as if it had chosen this place to rest. Its wet, slippery tentacles gently touched her skin, and its dark eyes studied her with curiosity.
Alina’s friends, seeing such a picture, cried out in surprise and immediately grabbed their phones to shoot a video. But the girl herself did not feel fear – only admiration. It seemed that the octopus chose her, trusted her.
Minutes passed, but the strange companion was in no hurry to leave Alina. It seemed that he sensed her calm and did not want to part. Even when she carefully tried to remove him, the octopus only pressed closer.
“It seems that you have a new friend!” someone from the company laughed.
But deep down, Alina felt that this was not just friendship. It was something more – a moment of pure connection between a person and the sea, between reason and instinct.
A few minutes later, she carefully leaned towards the water and slightly tilted her body. The octopus, understanding her intention, smoothly slid off her skin and disappeared into the depths, leaving a warm, almost familiar feeling as a memory.
From that day on, Alina came to the shore every morning, hoping to meet her mysterious guardian again.
