The Little Mistress of a Big Ranch
On the edge of the village, among the green hills and wide meadows, lived a little girl named Lisa. Despite her age – only three years old – she was already a real mistress. She had three faithful friends:
a huge kind horse named Thunder and two smart dogs – a cheerful Australian heeler named Trixie and a serious sheepdog named Rex.
Every morning, while the sun was just rising above the horizon, Lisa put on her favorite pink cap, took a sturdy stick (as if it were her staff) and went for a walk with Thunder and the dogs.
Thunder was so big that when Lisa pulled on the reins, it seemed as if it was not she who was leading the horse, but the horse that was leading her. But Thunder knew: this little girl was his mistress, and he obeyed her just as an experienced war horse obeys its rider.
The dogs ran alongside her, carefully watching Lisa’s every move. They were her personal guard and scouts at the same time. If there was an unexpected noise or rustling in the bushes on the road, Trixie would immediately rush to check, and Rex would stand next to Lisa, ready to protect her at any moment.
Once, during a walk, Lisa noticed that there was a lone lamb standing ahead, right by the stream. It looked scared and was shaking with fear. The girl realized that it had strayed from the herd.
“Thunder, Trixie, Rex, let’s help the baby!” she said confidently.
Thunder slowly approached the lamb and lowered his head, gently sniffing it. Trixie began to run around, as if inviting him to follow them, and Rex sat down next to him, letting him know that it was safe here.
Lisa reached out and gently stroked the lamb. Feeling her kindness, he stopped trembling.
“Come with us, we’ll take you home,” Lisa said.
This small herd — a girl, a huge horse, two dogs and a lamb — moved back to the village. On the way, they met a shepherd who was already looking for a lost lamb.
“Wow! You’re so good, Lisa! Your friends are a real team!” the man praised her.
Lisa smiled proudly, and Grom snorted, as if confirming that it was true.
Since then, she became even more convinced that even a small person with a big heart can become a real master of the big world.
